ICT's week 2

Learning activity

My school days - A great wood work teacher as he gave us the tools and know-how but left the project design up to the individual. My drama teacher was like that too as she let us explore new ways of expressing ourselves in a very free manner (student centred). On the other hand maths and science were very stifled in the respect that all tasks were (teacher centred), no freedom was give for experimentation at all.

Freedom to think and to use ones already aquired knowledge seems to be a common thread so far. I know it was and still is for me the best way that I learn. Technology is a great tool to use to accomplish this ie Quests, blogs etc.

An ICT learning activity that I would like to implement (year 3, 4, 5, or6) would be to find a family tree program and to get students to use it. See who has the most family , where they are and how far they date back.

Activity
My formal learning experience over the last 2 years purely consists of distance education through CQU . My tutors that engaged us with the topic, other sudents and themselves scored highest with me and consequently I scored highest with them.

Felder..... I score average overall. I realise that not all learners learn the same so therefore different teaching strategies will have to be used ie written on board, pictures, videos, outside venues, www etc.

Accoding to Jung I am slightly everything!

Krunc's article - reaffims what needs to be in place before successful learning can take place. We need to really take the time and get to know our students to see if they are ready to learn and if not try to correct what the problem is.

I'm not sure how accurate these types of tests are (multiple and emmotional intelligence) as they rely on unbiased and honest answers being given. This is the pitfall, humans only given information about themselves as they perceive themselves to be, not the actual truth. However, it is interesting to find out what kind of learner I am and what kind of emmotional intelligence I pocess as teaching could be modelled to suit me. I need plenty of visual aides and need time to digest information.
